Virtual mediation eliminates the need for everyone to travel to a courthouse or an office building. Each person must have access to a private space with internet access. This could be home, office or tutoring room in a public library. Privacy is crucial. Effective mediation cannot take place with interruptions and distractions by pets, co-workers or family members.
Connectivity requires a device with access to the internet, such as computers, laptops, tablets and even a smart phone or iPhone. Built in camera, speakers and microphones may suffice. It may be prudent to use external devices such as headphones with a microphone included or an external camera connected through the USB port on a computer. Earbuds used with phones often include a suitable microphone.
